Maritime Tools

In collaboration with the Rice, Unruh Reynolds Company of Philadelphia, PA, Tekquest developed, launched and hosted the maritimetools.com site. The application focused on providing the bulk shipping industry with online management tools. The initial product was the Portfolio application suite.
PortFolio provided shipping agents, charter parties and vessel owners with the ability to use a browser to track vessel position and port activities from the originating port to the final destination. Port Log and Statement of Fact reports were generated shortly after sailing for near real-time status. Custom reports were either printed or downloaded in multiple exportable formats. A Port and Terminal application provided customers with port, terminal and dock information that was updated daily by port agencies based internationally.
The maritimetools.com site and PortFolio were built using ColdFusion 5, MS SQL Server, Crystal Reports Server and Flash. Data was entered and maintained online by RUR personnel in field offices at all the major ports in the U.S. Clients either using the online reporting facilites of PortFolio or receiving copies of those reports include British Petroleum (BP), British Gas (BG), Shell/Texaco and Exxon Mobile. The site began production in April 2001.
